Nike Air Foamposite One 'Cough Drop' returns for 2025 with a black and red colour scheme that puts the contrast between its sculpted upper and red outsole centre stage. This edition revisits the colourway known from its 2010 release, bringing it back to one of Nike's most unconventional basketball designs. Eric Avar designed the Air Foamposite One around a moulded shell rather than a traditional upper stitched from multiple panels. First released in 1997, the model became closely associated with Penny Hardaway, whose 1 Cent logo appears on the heel. Here, the black finish and flowing ridges emphasise its futuristic shape, while red branding ties the upper to the outsole.

A moulded polyurethane Foamposite shell forms the foundation, complemented by soft panels around the laces and textile mesh on the tongue and around the collar. This combination preserves the shoe's distinctive structure while providing a softer feel at key points of contact with the foot. Air Zoom cushioning adds a responsive feel underfoot, while a carbon-fibre shank reinforces the midfoot. The rubber outsole's herringbone tread nods to the model's basketball roots, and pull tabs on the tongue and heel help with getting the shoes on. The result is a sneaker defined by its unusual construction and bold proportions rather than elaborate graphics.
